Sanganeri hand-block printing is a century-old craft originating from the town of Sanganer, near Jaipur. Known for its delicate floral motifs (butas) printed on off-white or ivory cotton bases, this technique represents a perfect marriage of human precision and organic materials.
Each design requires multiple carved teakwood blocks. The printing is done in layers, starting with the outline (rekh) followed by the background color block (datta) and highlight blocks (gad).
